The Still House
Come feel the quiet in the Arctic wilderness – at the world’s most remote distillery.
Enjoy the quiet and calmness of island life at our new architect-designed seaside house.
The Still House is more than a stay – it is an architectural and sensory experience, grounded in nature, simplicity, and stillness.

the edge of the world
32 kilometres off the Norwegian coast lies Myken – a small island community surrounded by the Arctic Ocean, where silence, sea and shifting light shape everyday life.
Check availability & Book your staySet against the sea and the beautiful Helgeland coast, The Still House offers four architect-designed apartments where Scandinavian restraint meets quiet luxury. Designed by architect Jan Olav Jensen of Jensen & Skodvin, each 90 m² apartment is defined by warm plywood interiors, clean lines, and generous panoramic windows framing the sea.
Each apartment features two spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, comfortably accommodating up to four adults. Expect high-quality beds dressed in fine linens from Høie, fully equipped kitchens and a spacious living room area, and thoughtful details throughout – including bath amenities from Aesop.

Here, life slows down. The rhythm of the ocean, the shifting light, and the quiet of Myken invite you to rest, reflect, and reconnect. Step outside to experience island life, local food, and the distinctive character of Myken Distillery, where whisky tastings offer a deeper sense of place.

Four apartments. Four interpretations of stillness.
The Still House features four individually designed apartments, each offering the same exceptional level of comfort while expressing a different interpretation of the surrounding landscape. Every apartment includes two bedrooms with king-size beds, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and floor-to-ceiling views across the Sea.
Rather than creating identical spaces, we chose to give each apartment its own atmosphere and character. Whether you seek warmth, family comfort, architectural immersion or quiet contemplation, there is a Still House experience designed for you.

The Still House 1
Warm Minimalism. The original expression of The Still House. The balance of clean Scandinavian architecture with warmth and comfort. Sharp architectural lines meet soft plywood interiors, natural textiles and carefully selected vintage details, creating a space that feels calm, inviting and quietly luxurious.

The generous sofa encourages slow mornings with coffee, long evenings with a book, or simply watching the changing weather roll across the ocean. Two iconic Hjelle Siesta lounge chairs invite you to settle in by the panoramic windows, while the record player adds a tactile, analogue rhythm to island life.
Every material has been chosen to soften the minimalist architecture without distracting from its simplicity. It is a place designed for conversations, music, reflection and uninterrupted views.
Perfect for couples, friends and anyone seeking the signature Still House experience.
The Still House 2
Space to Gather. Designed for those who enjoy spending time together. Combines the same architectural qualities found throughout The Still House with a more relaxed and social interior. A large corner sofa creates a natural gathering place after a day exploring Myken, whether you're sharing a meal, playing games, watching a film or simply enjoying each other's company.

The addition of a television makes this apartment particularly well suited for families with children or guests planning a longer stay, while the calm palette, natural materials and uninterrupted sea views maintain the peaceful atmosphere that defines The Still House.
Comfortable, practical and beautifully understated, this place offers the perfect balance between contemporary design and everyday living.
Ideal for families, longer stays, or groups who appreciate extra space to unwind together.
The Still House 3
The View. The most distinctive apartment at The Still House. Inspired by the philosophy of Norwegian hotel visionary Knut Slinning, founder of Juvet Landscape Hotel, this apartment is designed around a single idea: when the interior becomes quieter, the landscape becomes louder.

Dark burgundy plywood walls envelop the space in warmth, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a protective cave. Rather than competing with the dramatic surroundings, the darker interior heightens your awareness of the changing light beyond the windows, allowing the sea, sky and horizon to become the true focal point.
Every furnishing has been carefully selected to complement this architectural concept, resulting in an apartment that feels intimate, immersive and quietly luxurious.
This is a space for slowing down, reading, thinking, observing – and experiencing the landscape with renewed attention.
Ideal for architecture lovers, design enthusiasts and guests seeking an unforgettable spatial experience.
The Still House 4
Where the Sea Begins. Positioned at the southern end of The Still House, this apartment enjoys one of the property's most captivating outlooks, gazing through the narrow strait southwards and the mountains of the beautiful Helgeland coast to the southeast.

Designed with simplicity at its core, the apartment embraces a pared-back interior where every element serves the landscape. Instead of a traditional sofa, a built-in bench with generous cushions creates an inviting place to stretch out, read, or simply watch the ever-changing sea. Comfortable lounge chairs offer another quiet vantage point from which to experience the shifting light and passing weather.
Minimal in expression yet rich in atmosphere, this place invites guests to slow down and reconnect with the rhythm of the ocean.
An extra bedroom available with a queen-size bed.
Perfect for contemplative travellers, couples and anyone who believes the best entertainment is the view itself.

The Still House on Myken. The last isles on the horizon.
